Unity Leases is Quebec's centralized rental platform, bringing listings, tenant screening and rent collection together for landlords who would otherwise run all three separately. Their own description is the useful one: they unite renters and landlords, across thousands of both.
Screening is where a rental platform earns its trust and spends its time. Every application is a small file that has to be assembled, checked and passed to a landlord who is deciding whether to hand over a property. When that file is slow to build or hard to verify, the cost lands in two places at once: the applicant loses patience, and the landlord hesitates.

Screening was the one thing that lived outside the system.
The team worked in Airtable. Screening didn't.
Unity ran their operation out of an Airtable base, and their previous screening provider sat outside it. Every application meant working in two places and moving the result between them by hand. The admin was not in the screening itself. It was in everything around the screening.
Landlords were deciding on documents they could not verify.
Income arrived as submitted paperwork, which a landlord can read but cannot confirm. That uncertainty is expensive in a way that is easy to miss: it does not show up as a rejection, it shows up as a delay, while someone decides how much to trust a document.

Carousel connects directly to income sources instead of accepting submitted documents. Landlords see confirmed income rather than a claim about it, and neither they nor the Unity team had to adopt a separate portal to get there.

With screening running inside Airtable, the work of moving an application between systems disappeared. The same team handles the same volume with most of the per-file overhead gone.

Verified income replaced submitted paperwork, and with it the manual work of adding up an applicant's financial picture. For a property manager that job ran on every file; against Unity's own prior process it now takes half the time, and what a landlord sees is confirmed rather than asserted.
